Relaxing Weekends at Home: The Recipe for Success13th February 2014
It’s fair to say that for most of us, the chance of a chilled out weekend with nothing on the agenda is a slim one. The working week means that often, the weekend is the time for us to get our list of jobs done, while it’s also a time for the kids to have football practice, swimming lessons and such, meaning that before we know it, it’s Sunday night and time to get the packed lunches ready again. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a relaxing weekend, or perhaps even a day, where we can chill out as a family and enjoy every second without an errand or chore in sight? Here’s a recipe for success if you like the idea of a relaxing weekend at home at some point in the near future.
So what if it’s dry and sunny outside. Or, on the other hand, perhaps it’s rainy and overcast, giving you a perfect excuse to snuggle up indoors. Either way, having a pyjama day with your other half and the kids can be an awesome way to spend the day. Drag the duvet downstairs, pull out the matching women’s and men’s onesie that have been tucked into your drawer and tell the kids that they don’t have to get changed. If you don’t own one, take a look at this great value men’s onesie or this fabulous women’s ladybird onesie, just for the occasion. Snuggle up on the sofa together, and dedicate the day to popcorn and Disney movies.
When was the last time you got down on the floor and played, properly, with your kids? How often do you just leave the youngsters to it when you get on with your chores and menial jobs? Put the chores to one side and spend an afternoon playing with your children. Pull out the board games, take on the role of one of their imaginary characters or build a den – the choice is yours!
Whether it’s spending a couple of hours in the kitchen baking brownies and cookies, or it’s in the living room dreaming up puppet shows and stories, kids will love the attention that you give them as part of a relaxing weekend together.
Is there any better a way to spend an evening with your other half than relaxing in front of the fire with a glass of wine and back-to-back movies? Pick up a couple off the Sky Box Office, or take a look at what Netflix has to offer. Choose something that you have both wanted to see in a while, grab a blanket, dim the lights and get ready for a cinematic triumph or two.
Relieve the stress, if only for a weekend, and forget about your growing to-do list; just this once. Dedicate the weekend to your family, turn off Facebook and enjoy each other’s company – the weekends are normally so hectic, so take the opportunity to enjoy every second of your relaxing one!
