So, now that the course of the American dollar is down, does it make sense to buy clothes from there? Or is the shipping and customs etc. much?

A very valid and astute question Dum da Dum Dum, and not the hairy kind but the wise kind.

Currently, the conversion stands at £1 = $1.5. Not as good as when I first wrote this article but still OK.

Check out this quick example; a pair of Diesel Larkee Jeans. The boys at Sarah Coggles are selling a pair for £130 with £5 shipping. Two minutes research online at Shopzilla finds Zappos flogging a pair of the same jeans for $150, that’s about £100.

Good call Steve – ‘Men Know Your Limits!’. Unless you’re some kind of water sports champion or 15 years old, shorts need to be kept simple.

To add to your fashion lexicon, 3/4 length trousers may also be known as ‘cropped trousers’ or ‘walkshorts’. Never been a fan of 3/4 length trousers but I feel your pain when it comes to simplicity, I’m more of a plain long boardshort (or walkshorts) kind of guy. I like to have more of a draft blowing through my nether regions to fan my ‘Betty Swollocks’.

Firstly, I had to watch the video to see what he was talking about. The initial chipmunk-like beginning had me wondering if this was a joke. Not sure if Tim is a fan but I’m not although the jacket is nice, maybe that’s where the irony is.

I set myself the task of playing the sterile tones and cliched ridden lyrics on repeat until the said item was found…luckily the Smartgeezer elves were both swift and efficient. They feasted well that evening.

Where can one get formal wear for a 25ish geezer. Thing is, I need to get an overcoat that I can use with a suit, now that it’s winter. As I rarely wear formal wear, I haven’t a clue where to get one, or if there any etiquette kind of things that I should take into account when purchasing one?

Once again, with a whip-crack-away, the slave elves were sent out to work for their meagre supper. They came back with a variety of options for you.

Basically you want a mac or a mid-length/long overcoat. Colours don’t really matter as the jacket will be hiding the suit; you can wear a grey coat with a black suit, a khaki coat with a blue suit. You may just want to consider that the bottom of your trousers and shoes are showing so you could co-ordinate for that but then again, getting an overcoat for every coloured suit you have is getting a bit ridiculous not to mention expensive. Personally, I’d stick to black or grey.

I find it hard to find clothes in my size that are actually cool – I would be 28 waist and 30 leg for jeans/trousers and about 33-34 inch chest. For instance I love the colother at cult but they’re always slightly too big! Do you know any good sources for the smaller man?

Once again, I sent out the slave elves to search for mens clothing sites selling clothes for the smaller man. I briefed them with any site selling size 28/29 waist trousers, here’s what they came back with.

USC – a good selection of 28/29 jeans.

Burton – a few small ones lying around.

Bench – a few jeans.

Blue Inc – a couple of trousers in 28.

Dress For Less – Some small trousers and small and extra small tops.

La Redoute – No 28’s or 29’s but some 30’s.

M and M Direct – a few 28’s hiding amongst all the 30’s.

YOOX – Good selection with good search functionality to help you find your size.

Koodos – Hunt and ye shall find.

Surf Dome – A handful of 28/29 jeans.

Republic – A fair choice for the waif.

That’s about it, not a bad start for you to dig in and see what’s out there. I wouldn’t worry too much about length as you can get trousers/jeans adjusted quite easily. Check out the returns so you can exchange items if the measurements are abit off. Also, try and beef yourself up to a 30 inch waist and you’ll have a much easier time finding trousers to fit!

That’s about it. There’s not much knocking around online at the moment as far as the slave elves can find. I have needlessly punished them you’ll be glad to hear for not finding a wider selection. At least there’s a handful of decent ones to check out.
