Competition: Nueu Corona Sunglasses Winners

8th September 2008

Competition: Nueu Sunglasses Winners That’s another competition done and dusted. Special thanks to Sunglasses Shop for sponsoring the latest one with three pairs of Nueu sunglasses.

I did the usual high-tech method of writing everyone’s name done on paper, cutting them out, screwing them up and then sticking them in a coffee mug to draw out.

The three winners were notified on Friday night and so they’ll shortly be looking slightly out of place by wearing a cool pair of shades in the wind and rain. It ain’t easy being fashionable people!

Thanks again to Daniel and Sunglasses Shop for giving us the illusion of summer by giving away some sunglasses, maybe the winners will get some use out of them by going abroad.

Joe Bloggs: New Range and Exclusive Discount

6th August 2008

Joe Bloggs: New Range and Exclusive Discount Got contacted by Lee who’s representing Joe Bloggs and said I should check out their new range.

I kinda forgot about Joe Bloggs, weren’t their jeans the big thing in the early 90’s?

They’ve got a wide range of men’s tshirts and some shirts and jeans. I think the grey tshirt here is my favourite. The best thing is the prices on the Joe Bloggs site, they’re pretty reasonable. This grey “San Luis” tshirt is a snip at only £12.

The best thing is that Joe Bloggs have also given us smart geezers an exclusive discount code so you can get an extra 10% off. Just use the code – smartgeezer- at the checkout.

So check out the Joe Bloggs online store today.

Gouldy’s Tshirt Comp – We Have A Winner!

4th August 2008

Competition: WIN a Gouldy's Tshirt! After having a long lie-in to recover from the night before, I went through the comments, the SmartGeezer Facebook group and the emails to put everyone’s name in the hat…well, it was an empty coffee mug.

I gave it a good shake, shut my eyes and drew out Lawrence!

I sent the young fella an email letting him know of the ecstatic news that he’d just won a tshirt from Gouldy’s and he replied with a simple but succinct, “quality mate!”.

Lawrence took full advantage of the bonus round by sending me an email with the answer to the question, so he had two names in the mug.

So Gouldy’s is going to send Lawrence one of these blue tshirts and let me tell you, there won’t be any disappointment, it’s a very good little runner.

Thanks to everyone that entered, I’ll try and get another competition up sooner rather than later.

Remember to check out www.gouldys.co.uk kids!

Buy Nothing Day

23rd November 2007

Buy Nothing Day Saturday 24th November is international ‘Buy Nothing Day’. Why the 24th? Buy Nothing Day in the US is the day after Thanksgiving, which is the last Thursday of November, and is the busiest shopping day of the year over there. This year the 23rd is the day after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving doesn’t mean much to the rest of us so having it on the following Saturday is a bit strange to me, why not have it on Boxing Day over here?

Anyway, I think it’s a good idea. The hippy, put-tin-foil-on-your-head conspiracy stuff about corporations taking over the world is a stretch for me but I like the idea of highlighting one day to not shop or consume. I mean, I don’t shop everyday, so it’s not going to be hardwork for me but the fact it raises awareness about excessive consumption and becoming too focused on material possessions is a good thing.

Like Remembrance Sunday, take a moment to think about things, then on the stroke of midnight hit the internet with your credit card like the apocalypse is coming and prices have been slashed for the last time!
